Ange Ushiromiya Coat?
Post By SailorDemyx49. 20/10/10, 09:30 am

I'm doing an Ange Ushiromiya cosplay and I'm not sure how to go about doing her coat, so does any one ahve any ideas?

I'm not sure about:
- what kind of fabric
- what kind of pattern
- how to make the sleeves and collar
- what kind of trim I should use on her collar and sleeves
- what I should use to close it

For the buttons, I wasn't gunna make them actual buttons, they were just gunna be on the front as decoration and I was maybe gunna close it with velco or something...

Help would be much obliged! nodnod

I was thinking of starting a new thread, but then I saw this, so I decided to bump instead. > <

I have the same problem as SailorDemyx49, except I've already bought the fabric and trim, just searching for a pattern. Any ideas on what type of pattern to use? :) Thanks~

- what kind of fabric

black suiting fabric. Drill works fine but personally for me the grain is too coarse (loves is viscose mix)

- what kind of pattern

grab a blazer pattern and alter it~ I know easier said than done if you haven't done it before~

The base shape is a double breasted jacket. Sleeves are short puffed on top with ruffles attached to the bottom of them~

- how to make the sleeves and collar

in the answer above~

- what kind of trim I should use on her collar and sleeves

personally, i would scallop the hem but unless your sewing machine has that function its a pain the arse ... but anything for cosplay right? >D

- what I should use to close it

you go all authentic and uses buttons and button holes like a real blazer or you can cheat like me and sew the buttons on top and use snaps/velcro to fasten it in place~

.....Why have I never thought of doing that omg so genius. Getting buttons + buttonholes to line up and sit properly is a major pain OTL

@azeria: though you have to be careful with where you place the snaps though otherwise it'll look weird if you stretch it the wrong way XD

it's typical Jaanese shool uniform evolution.
so check the shool uniform jacket, follow the pattern and material, you will get it.
personally, i'd like to use thin worsted or something close to that feeling.

I'm not sure how to link a picture. so if you can see, that's for the fabric effect

pattern you can looking for two. one for body, probably you can find in jacket pattern, another for sleeve which probably from casual wear.
