Not really. You just have to keep choosing characters that are appropriate for your age.

Buuuuut I nod at the appropriate to your age line. But then again, if you can pull of a cosplay without it looking too zomginyourfaceyou'remuchtoooldforthat, then go for it. Just like that little old lady. She can pull it off. xD

If you pull it off, you pull it off. If you think about it and put the effort in you're going to pull it off.

I think the reason we don't have THAT many older members is because 1) Real life is generally more demanding the older you are and 2) This community is more focused towards teenagers really.

So yeah, if you're still passionate and putting in some effort oh and hopefully trying to not cosplay 12 year old boys, it's okay? <:

I see myself cosplaying for a long time, albeit off and on.

Some characters look weird when cosplayed by young people too. I mean, my dad is dressing up as Crocodile Dundee at this Auckgeddon, could a young guy do that? Nuh uh.

Then of course there is the main reason. That cosplay is a relatively recent phenomenon. In the us and uk they have had sci-fi conventions for decades, and so probably have more older cosplayers. In fact look at cosplay.com and you will see older people, older than me, doing Japanese stuff, and doing it very well. After all they have years of experience behind them.

That and once you have family you don't have much time or money. Plus people tend to just grow out of things after awhile, and move onto other things.

I get told I look really young for my age, so I'm hoping this is a plus for cosplaying in the future.
(wants to carry on cosplaying like, main characters in anime that are usually young and in high school. >_<)

I look young for my age too, i think as long as you pick something thats not too old or too young for whatever age or what you appear than its fine.
