Asian conventions
Post By Tamoo. 26/04/10, 12:41 pm

Can people name and date some conventions (that heavily involve cosplay) that happen during the year all over Asia? I'm planning a convention tour trip in Asia sometime in the future :3

Or specifically during the end of the year around Singapore?

Anime Fest Asia (AFA) near the end of november.

http://afa09.com/index.html - 09 link

I know Malaysia has Daicon in July, and Japan has Comiket end of December, but lol Comiket

Taiwan has Fancy Frontier and Petit Fancy, which are pretty cool (and sells a lot of doujins!)
Taipei Intl book festival in Feb nets a few cosers too.

In Singapore, there's the Toy, Games and Comic convention on 10-12 December. Linky!

I think there's another one around November but need to check

@CMKMStephens

I don't know if you realized that you classified an event with Singapore in the link under Malaysian conventions =w=;; and the only Malaysian con thats happening at the end of the year as far as I know is Comic Fiesta 83

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_anime_conventions

Pretty much the "anime" conventions.
It doesn't have very much in the list though.

If you're thinking about going to Korea, I know they have three main ones...

1. Seoul Comic World (This happens every month).
2. Busan Comic World (Every two months).
3. SICAF (Seoul International Cartoon and Animation Festival) (I'm usnure on the dates though).

You saw nothing Neutral

Trying to follow links to various conventions from cosplay.com leads to a hell of a lot of defunct websites for events that were one year only, or recently stopped. I'm sure there was a Malaysian event I ran into at some point.

EOY (End Of Year) in Singapore is a good one~ nodnod
not as fun as armageddon =.=
But it's like an otaku shopping spree + doujin overload in one nodnod

They enjoy changing the date but it's usually around mid to late December~
and then after that there's SOY (start of year... /creativity.) that's held in mid-late Jan.
I've never been to it but it sounds like the same sort of thing~

@CMKMStephens: you did WHAT?! x.x
It's so maddening when people combine Malaysia and Singapore ( my home country ; ;)
...you won't liek me when i'm angry D:<

Considering that I made separate headings leading to the copy-paste typo in the first place, you can hardly say I'm 'combining them' can you? Neutral

CMKMStephens, there's another mistake in your post Please don't kill me

You have typed 'coNfest' instead of 'coSfest' in the Singapore Cosfest link. Also, if you correct that, it instantly directs to http://events.sgcosplayclub.org/index.html
