The bubble tea from Formosa comes in one flavour and the tapioca pearls are of varying quality from day to day. The positive is that it is cheap. 509 (the old Reload on Fred st) sells a wider range of flavours. And besides pearls you can have jelly or pudding too. I dunno. I guess I prefer the variety. BUT WE ARE GETTING OFF TOPIC.

I'm still wondering, how are they expecting to fit everybody and all the stalls and stuff in that tiny venue?

To be fair, Dunedin sorta lacks a large area to hold an event like this that's sorta central within the city.

nuu i think they arent expecting too many people since last year there was only 300+

to be honest, the size of castle vs. the amount of attendees was the first thing i was surprised about too.

I think it's hard to gauge cost because if he did it in a hotel - dunedin isnt capable of a decent sized hotel handling a full blown convnetion so cost would be driven up ten fold >_> I usually spent abtou 40 US alone on ticket,s pl us hotel rooms and spending costs.

This convention = CHEAP Very Happy

Well, none of Pulp Expo's events have ever been held in a hotel (to my knowledge) so using one as a venue for this one would seem irrelevant. All of them have been held in an events centre of some description.

I would have thought maybe expanding the venue to use more of the Town Hall facilities would have made it a bit better. But then again, I might just not be remembering the size of the town hall in comparison to Castle Complex.

But I suppose another important factor is the estimated attendance. I mean we only got around 300 people last year

Due to it's location it's more likley to get numbers up this year - i've been seeing posters EVERYWHERE. Not just that but the fact that it's at Uni makes it a hell of a lot easier. I'm hoping i drum up more support ALONE based on the fact there's "Extra Curricular Activities AFTER THE FIRST DAY" LOL.

Yea, i know that the pulp/armagededons arent at hotels - but most and i mean MOST conventions are at hotels, comic or not or convention centres near hotels in the US. Depending on the size that is.

I think San Diego Comic Con's usually at staples centre. so that's the whole convention centre thing.
....dunedin's convention centre is in an odd place >.>

you can hardly compare SDCC with NZAE... SDCC is the biggest comic convention in the united states.

Oh i wasn't comparing, i ... half awkaenly was merely referencing the difference, not nessescarily in comparison. Though you're completley right there's like the population of WELLINGTON that attends that con yearly.

At least Dunnerz gets an ANIME CONVENTION, took quite a long time - i had an idea for it back in 2001 - but was too young dumb and brainless to figure it out. Attended a couple cons in 2004 - and attended NZAE last year.. and whee! it's on again! :)

I'm just HAPPY he's doing this, and frankly bill deserves the award for best event organizer this side of the south pacific. I don't care how CRAPPY i've felt about NZ, while i'm here Armageddon's made my geek fix go sky high!

Remember if you are entering the Cosplay contest, the judging will be set up the same. 10.30am for judging, going until we are done, and then on the stage at 4pm. If you are involved in panels(ie: running one) or the like, please let us know on your rego form, and we will try to accomodate you.

Yes and the tapes are given to Bill. I have been talking to him about getting access to them and doing dvds/or files that you can access via itunes etc
