Darker music
Post By Freyasoul. 13/06/08, 06:08 am

Does anyone here listen to anything that would be considered particularly black?
Examples of this are like Chimaira, Cradle of Filth, Dimmu Borgir, Ihsahn etc. (These bands are fairly soft when it comes to dark music by the way n_n especially chimaira...but i just like them).

Im more of a symphonic metal/goth melancholic person.

currently on my IPod: Theater of Tragedy, Within Temptation, Lacuna Coil, Nightwish, Fields of the Nephilim, blutengel etc...

that said, I also have Enya on the IPod, so Im not exactly the poster boy for good music taste.

Oh Nightwish, I rather like them at the moment. I think Amaranth got me into them to start with and would be my fav song.

I listen to Cradle of Filth Razz
(yes I know its cause of you I do, but still)

...I like Enya...she's not THAT bad. Could be worse, could be mika. Interlace are great - very heavy, dark techno. Mondsucht, bits 'n pieces of Cradle of Filth - some of their albums are pretty bad, imo. Isis, Oomph!, Mushroomhead. Love Mushroomhead.

I luz melodic deathmetal. Go Norweigian electric guitar solos!
Man-o-War! Think a combination of.... Lordi and Queen. Lol, so not Dark in the slightest.

I also have Theatre of Tragedy.

You want "dark", you go get yourself Nick Cave, esp "Murder Ballads". It's an entire album of, well, ballads about murder. They're so long that he needs the words when he sings live, some of them. But they're fantastic!

I used to hang out in Hysteria in Auckland :-D

EDIT: Gah, I can't beleive I forgot to mention how much I lulz Rasmus which is also not very dark sometimes, but sometimes gets to tone exactly perfect. Pop-Goth kinda; Lauri wears black feathers in his hair *sigh*

Let's hear it for Nick Cave!

Also...I don't mean any offence by this, not knockin' the Rasmus in the slightest - but don't you think Lauri looks like a stegosaurus? It's amazing!

Norwegians make the best death metal out there ("quantity vs quality"-wise)
Although a lot of them are very Nazi too... so there are ups and downs x_x

and this nick cave guy sounds pretty awesome... will look at his stuff once i get back so er...brb

EDIT: Back n.n

I'm failing the intelligence test to get pictures in my post so I shall simply post links

Lauri http://cd.img.v4.skyrock.com/cdf/thecrow9/pics/141959787.jpg
Stegosaurus http://www.dinoland.dk/Dinobilleder/stegosaurus_550px.jpg

Well, no, can't say that I do think he looks like a 4 done reptile that's been extinct for 65 million years or so.

Although I DO think he looks extremely like a person whose been dead for a week and been soaking in the bottom of a pond for most of that time. :-D

Which is kinda strange coz I also think that he's completely gorgeous.

And knocking the Rasmus is fun, my friend insists that the chorus to "In the Shadows" goes "Sometimes I feel I should go and play with the Pandas". I have NO idea why.

I don't actually like Korn much, the name is related to unicorns not the band Very Happy But you try to get a hotmail name with anything to do with unicorns at this late stage!! I just adore unicorns, and dragons and sci-fi and fantasy and stuff like that.
Although, I completely love Korn's nursery rhyme song and I quite like what they did with "Brick in the Wall". But I'm not a fan.

However, I DID go see Velvet Revolver at Auckland. I was two people from the front when Slash appeared *sigh* Slash Rules.

EDIT: coz it's just shown up on my randomiser. I spose most of you are too young to remember how massively controversial Marilyn Manson was when he first came out, but I've someone picked up a stack of his music. I've never brought an album so not sure where it came from...

u_n = face?????

Ohh, I see it now!!

And yeah, Slash rules. No-one gave a shit about VR's original songs, but when they played three notes from a G&R song the crowd went Ballistic!!! It was sooooo cool!

I like some songs from Within Temptation, Nightwish, Lucuna Coil, The Birthday Massacre (I hate that name) and Emilie Autumn. My music tastes is all over the place. So I sorta listen to every genre, except Rap and Death Metal

I also don't listen to rap for that reason. It may have changed over the last couple of years (I know it's a lot more popular) , so I will check it out again and see if I like it ^^.

I have heard some death metal, but only some that my friend listens too, so I don't really know much about it.

Death metal is really an aquired taste and i dont expect a huge load of people to like it.
You just have to be in a certain place in your life to accept it i would say =p but man that dirty screaming and guitar screeching has brought me out of some hard times n_n

Heh, when I'm down in the dumps I listen to Alanis Morisette, when I'm in a good mood I listen to death metal, or Gunners, or Iron Maiden. But I think Melodic death metal or some of the more operatic/symphonic stuff is much more enjoyable/fun then the plain.

Dimmu Borgir did a great melodic death metal song. I really really like it. And nymphetamine by cradle of filth... well that ones self explanatory. Nymphetamine Overdose is a great extended version of the song i really recommend listening to it.
