[WCB10] Showcase your Costumes! AT THE BALL!

Mannequins? In MY ball?

One of the ideas we had in planning for the ball decorations, from the very beginning, was to have a showcase of costumes featured at the ball. To that end, the Society purchased twenty half-mannequins to be suspended from the ceiling at the ball venue, as a sort of exhibition of cosplay. We want to show the general public exactly what kind of things we come up with, and why we all love this hobby so much - and we need you to help us do it.

We have twenty mannequins, and they look like this:

We therefore need twenty costumes to put on them! Because they're half-torsos, they're tiny; most outfits wil need to be pegged or pinned at the back to fit, so bear that in mind when putting your work forward. Image showing back of torsos:

We will (hopefully) get a lot more than twenty costumes volunteered for this, so we will have to "edit down" based on a number of things:

- how well a costume will stand up to being poked and prodded. Ideally, people wouldn't touch - but it happens, so something that isn't going to get damaged *too* easily would be great!

- how striking a costume is - that doesn't necessarily mean it's an epic, amazing, elaborate, complicated Amano-esque beaded creation; a well-made Bleach captain's costume can be just as eye-catching!

- how many of the "same kind" of costumes we get. Twenty schoolgirl outfits doesn't really show off the broad range of talent we have in the community!

To put your work forward, simply email a photo of two of your costume to spcc @ cosplay.org.nz with "Showcase Mannequin" in the subject header. So let's get submitting, people! You don't have to be in Wellington to apply, but it would be convenient - and nice to see your work on display for yourself :)

What are their measurements?

I'd love to show off 1-2 different types of my Corsets... Very Happy

Also a Disney Costume (in the works) that could be HUGELY adjusted/pinned back to fit one of them...lol

I should really finish that dress...I have all I need for it....hmmm...lol

I may be able to drop off a costume when I come down for Wellygeddon, but would it be too much of a hassle for you guys to be able to send it back?

...I'll have to talk to the others about sending stuff back, but if you got us a courier bag you know will fit the costume, in theory theres no problem :)

@SS: I'll measure when I get back to them, but they're literally cut in half - stuff will *definitely* have to be pinned or pegged to fit! They are TINY if you look at them as full bodies!

By half, she means the back is flat, not 3D, rather than referring to the fact that the legs and arms are chopped off.

I might offer Wander up, as the Tabbard comes across quite well while hanging up, and I can attach the shorts too so he should work out rather nicely. :3

Also, @JVCA - if you like, I can always take your costume back up in May for my 2nd block course if you'd like?

Depending on what I can pull together between now and then, I might have something to put forward....

(I'd really, really like to put Tracers Black Mage[Which is currently living at my house] forward, but anyone who was at Wellington Cosplay Picnic knows how many pins would be needed to get that great monstrousity to fit on a tiny half torso...)
