I just saw it, I thought it was great, I missed out on seeing the 3D version by a ticket, if I'd gone alone I could've seen it but none-the-less I really enjoyed the normal version (and want to learn na'vi). Hopefully I can go see the 3D version with my family after Xmas

Wow, I was super impressed with the technical brilliance of the film.

<3 at making the Na'vi language. I went to see it in 3D and wooooow.

The great thing is, there's two more movies slated for release!

I wouldn't be surprised, since Cameron was down here working with Weta so much.

Just got back from seeing it. Graphically, it was amazing! Luminous plants ftw, never need a torch again! Plotwise yeah, bits were kind of predictable but there are only like, seven basic plots (or nine it you wanna use that one) so what can y' do, really. Can't remember a lot of the names of the creatures and stuff 'cause of the Na'Vi language but they were damn cool! 'Specially the Tigrex Last Shadow dragon thing. Locations were beyond epically epic, srsly.

Acting was brilliant! Nice to see Sigourney Weaver on the silver screen again, haven't seen her in anything for a while.... Neytiri was an awesome character and I loved how MANRY Trudy was haha. Hey, isn't she the girl from That 70s Show? Sam Worthington's performance was also supercool as was Joel Moore's (Norm) esp in the bit where~~

Avatar is probably one of the best movies I've seen in awhile. Everything was good, save for the plot, which was as a few you guys already have said, is a bit practicable. I barely even felt the 162 minutes... they were gone in a flash.
The 3-D was really good, too. 8D

I'd give Avatar a 9.5. (out of 10, of course).

After 11 days in release (well, 11 recorded anyway), it's at 650million according to boxofficemojo. It's already topped/topping numerous records.

Its production budget keeps getting randomly reported as between 250-500mill though (slight difference there...) so as to how well it's doing for Cameron, I'm not sure whether it's profitable yet. In terms of cost/box office takings District 9 was at 7x, LOTR about 9-10x each. That would equal a few billion for avatar.

I saw it last week and damn it was amazing, the special effects, the CGI, the animation all looked almost real.

I actually wasn't planning to go see until i was bombarded by Facebook statuses. If all those people said it was good it became a must see for me and i was just blown away. Thumbs up for James Cameron.

True, very true.

OHM'GOSHOHM'GOSHOHM'GOSH.

It was so amazing I have no words, as in I came out of the cinema kind of shaking and had wierd Na'vi dreams that night. I saw it the day after it came out and no-one believed me when I insisted that it was wowsome.

Just WOW. I buys it when it comes out on DVD...

They've broken even AND made a profit then. It cost, what, $400 million US? Gosh it was worth it though. I saw it yet again in 3D and was just kicking myself at the realism.
