Suggestion: Welcome to CNZ video?

Hi guys, just had a thought after browsing the 405th (Halo armour making community) website. They had a good orientation video on their site (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hclW5onHNsE&feature=player_embedded), which helped address a number of things including what the group is about and forum etiquette. I thought it would be good to have something similar here, and post it at the top of the homepage before the Introductions thread.

The number of people joining the forum is getting bigger by the day, and I'm not so sure if enough people are taking the time to read through the rules section (*ahem* especially the bit about double posting) and I think it would help set the tone of the community, as a welcoming friendly one

. A comment or two about personal attacks/flaming/spreading rumours, would also be good (I don't see this in the rules myself- but then I may not be looking closesly enough).

I know all this stuff is common sense, (and covered in the important threads already) I just think a vid would be more effective in getting the message(s) across to new users, and a valuable reminder to older ones.

Additional suggestion (okay now Im just being creative here

): Make it a competition, decide on what content you mods want in the vid (perhaps make an audio file) and open it up to members to make it... an AMV type thing perhaps... with the winner being embedded.

*snickers at the double posting rule, raises hand* I AM ONE OF MANY new-er people that know about this rule but tend to forget randomly. LOL. At each convention i go to there needs to be a big huge "BAKA" fan that someone can just whap me with xD

And yea i REALLY ACTUALLY AGREE with making a video like this - it's like the 2nd generation of rule posts :)

I think several people should each say a few rules or such 8D. Like, the mods 8D.

It would be awesome. This is a great idea.

Heres a random spouting of ideas, because I feel like spouting ideas;
A competition between the different groups to make the best. (Maybe part of the Yuletide Tourny?)
Someone makes a script, then it gets passed out at random for people to make small sections of the video?

Anyway, nice to see other people's ideas too (isn't it funny how good ideas just bounce off each other here?). I think most would agree that the Mods should decide what the content should be, (they write the rules don't they?) and I like Aura's idea of getting the Mods to say a few rules each- especially since we could get to see who the Mods are ...this would save me from trying to figure out who's who at the next conference

But I still reckon a comp would be fun, and Rocky's idea of competing groups sounds good, -though I wouldn't want to bog down the Yuletide Tourney with this unless the Tourney organisers are really keen... they sound like they have enough on their plate for now.

Okay, so thats what I'm thinking... and at the point of spoiling my own chances of winning any future competition, I've had my creativity cap on and already came up with 3 ideas... drum roll please!
1) "Meet teh Mods!" A Team Fortress 2 like spoof which introduces the moderators and the rules.
2) A spoof of "The Guild" where each mod sits in front of their computer and types/talks as if they're chatting in an online RPG... except they're on the CNZ forums, using as much forum jargon as possible (Fail/Epic/Win/facepalm/Awesomesauce etc)
3) Something with Final Fantasy music in the background....
