I know you dont have all the answers. I don't expect you to have them. I'm most apologetic that it seemed like I did. I know it as, as yet, a vague idea.
But I just didn't want anyone sticking their hand up for this without realising what level of commitment was involved. It IS a big deal, it CAN'T be done casually. There IS potential for something to go horribly horribly wrong.
I totally support the idea, and I don't want anything I've said to be taken to mean that I don't. I think its a bloody brilliant idea. There is total epicness at work here. |

u_ne_korn, we totally appreciate your concern and input, especially since you are organising a huge event... so you have first hand experience.
Sure, probably (and also) the tone of my posts wont help. They'll seem like "hey guys wont it be cool if we do this?" and makes it seem like I'm entering this with a casual attitude not thinking it through etc. which of course I'm not and neither is Duckeh, tis why I said we're not underestimating this at all ^^ behind the scenes there is a lot of thinking.
I know we can make this work, but it is going to be a long road to get there. _________________

| @Panini~ W00t~ :3 Could you please spread the word round to your other cosplaying friendly peeps && see who else would seriously be interested?! <33 n.n
@U_ne_korn~ Haha- Tis all good! n.n I know we needed to think it through~ But trust me we'll get there like Angie said~ We need to take it little steps at a time & this is the first step, putting word out there & getting feedback && more suggestions before we start deciding things for ourselves instead of on behalf of everyone~ :3 <3 _________________

| lol ok I missed a lot.
With the whole no money situation... There are a lot of ways to get the money that don't involve a regular job.
Have a hunt around and sell some stuff on trade me, I've been taking in an extra $100 every couple of weeks through it, and it's not even amazing stuff. There are some wholesale opportunities if you can afford the initial setback, I've taken a few brand new clothes lots at $8 a piece and resold them for at least $30 each.
Raid your local opshops for things that will sell, I've sold teacup sets, ornaments, clothes, shoes, toys, books etc etc and it all adds up. Just have a nosey and get a feel for what sells.
Play to your talents. Get a stall at your local market and sell whatever you're good at, be it art, jewellery, clothing, pet rocks... Or again, sell them on trade me. Go busking if you're musically inclined. Sign up for mystery shopping and get free stuff.
Another thing that will help is creating a new bank account specifically for saving, preferably with higher interest and penalties for taking money out. I got one last year for my England and America trip, and it was an amazing help.
So yeah. HAVE SOME INSPIRATION GUYS =D I don't know how else I can help XD
EDIT: Paopu fruit is spelt wrong --> lol =D |

| thinking of cost and the already high number of events there are this year... i'd suggest planning it for next year rather than '08... just from the perspective of someone with like, no money. D8 _________________

| u_ne_korn, well its true! You gots the experience =3 lol the forum is ~alive~
Suixelo, any ideas are helpful =D you've listed some good ways to get some moneys ^^
not that we're planning at date yet. But on the thread where this idea was discussed we decided if we were to start planning, we would do it for next year. So we've got like a year to plan it through thoroughly and everyone would have a year to save =P _________________

| I know I'm all new, but thats a good idea ^__^ Tho, the other thing is plain old getting people to go.. I have tried to organise simple things like movie trips with my theatre sports group, and the biggest no. that ever came was like.. 9. Out of about 30.
People are all busy x_x
And all you would need it the money for the hotel, coz witht hings like Rainbows End, you can pay there. LOL I just imagined all these anime characters on the rollercoaster. Thats mad-epic. |

Yes, we'll convert you to cosplaying eventually jp... heh.heh.heh. it'll be like "whose that guy? Oh its THAT GUY!" I'm sorry couldn't resist =P poor you, you have all these good ideas and take awesome photos and this is how you're treated ^^;
|
lol, it's all good, i think i'll probably convert eventually. Brent here in Wgtn did suggest Frank from Dead Rising since he's got a camera aswell, but yeah, I'll probably make a sleep deprived decision at some point. :)
| u_ne_korn wrote: | I think about 100 cosplayers would be a resonable target. Make it 150 people to take into account parents/significant others/children coming along. Make it... $150 dollars that any given individual would be paying to the organisers. *pulls out calculator*does SERIOUS double take* Who is going to take responsibility for $22,500? Let me just repeat that. TWENTY TWO THOUSAND, FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS.
I'm sure as hell not going to put that in MY bank account. |
oh, oh, can I have it ? Pretty please? It'll make my bank account look, like, all positive balance and stuff? :) hehe.

hehe, you'll get to know cosplayers, if they hear of the slightest hint of cosplay they come flocking. :) The Wellington Cosplay gathering a few weeks back was enough to full the cablecar going up the hill? (~20+? - panini how many was it again?) |
