Fabric search help!
Post By DuckehsMinion. 02/10/09, 10:37 am

Okay so i need to find A winter stock Fabric, this fabric is White PVC(vinyl) i need about 4m of it, becouse it's a winter stock none of the shops where i live(TGA) will order it in, So I'm asking people to look in the fabric shops near them for it, I'm willing to pay $20 on top of the total price(shipping inc) if you find it and send it to me before AuckGeddon09.

Thank you :3

Where in NZ are you? Spotlight have it in Wellington, and Arthur Toye have it occasionally as well.

Edit: Also, check Trademe - there are vendors who reglarly have it.

I know you can order stretch vinyly stuff (not sure what it's called but looks like vinyl and stretches) from dance fabric websites as I've needed it before, I'll find a link if that's suitable

also completely off topic, you're from Tauranga, yay!

This is the stuff I've gotten before, if you're in town and want to check it out before you buy it give me a pm as I have a tiny bit lying about somewhere, it should do unless you need something heavy but you could always back it with a heavier fabric, the website does sell pvc but only in gold and purple which is lame

Rotorua Spotlight is pretty big, too. Last time I was there they had a fairly large range of pvc stuff.

Spotlight generally only stocks pvc in red and white (around $20/m), they have zepher vinyl in white ($15/m or so i believe), its around about 2-3mm thick, so its fun to cut D: also, it smells good Very Happy *ex-spotlight chick* v.v

Also, Rotorua does have a store Very Happy

Any decent cheap set of shears (eg. from first aid shops) will cut through 5-6mm without any thought.

I cut through 2.5mm chrome tanned leather no problems.

Re: Fabric search help!

I was worried that the results would not be as good as a fabric scissors. And they probably aren't. But they are seem to be perfectly O.K. And yeah they are designed to cut motorcycle leathers off. And no more pricey than a decent pair of fabric scissors.

Of course good fabric scissors will cut 3mm PVC too. Just don't want to blunten them on leather.

It's for Pants & to cover this other stuff so as long as it's good enough to make pants out of, then it's all good. So yeah not upholstery fabric that would be bad 8DDD.

Saw some stretch fabric that looked very much like PVC. So the stuff mentioned before (dance site?) may work fine.
