| Just wanting to clarify something that JVCA already asked. Wooden weapons: are they permitted, and if so, to what extent?
I'm sure there are a million people out there who'd rather make a durable prop (like all those keybladers) than something out of cardboard with clay attachments. I'm planning to make a scythe (wooden pole, with cardboard blade) but since I want to make it to keep, I was wondering if it is okay to made the blade out of wood as well. Obviously, it won't be sharpened, but it still might be considered dangerous. |

That is my plan for another sword I'm making, but I was always under the impression that was considered "safe." XD |

No one said it had to be made of cardboard.
If you dropped your prop on someone it must not be able to leave a mark or otherwise hurt them. We have had at least one instance of a prop landing on an audience member and luckily each time the prop was safe enough to not hurt them.
At Armageddon in Auckland I had a prop over 6 feet tall and no wood or metal was involved (apart from a little wire and three screws). It is sturdy but light and will not hurt anyone. I specifically made it to work in with the rules. Discover the piping sections of Mitre 10 Mega and Bunnings for they are good. Really look in the prop making section of cosplay.com forums there is a huge wealth of information there.
Fibreglass is fine just keep in mind the weight of it and think about what you are going to use as internal support. I am working on wording this particular rule as wood in and of itself is ok but a whole keyblade/other large weapon is a little too much. No one is immune to tripping up or having a prop otherwise get out of control. This is fine for small items but gets to be a rather larger issue with the oversized props of some characters. |

| | Thanks for the info. I might stay with safer materials, and then remake the blade later for my own satisfaction. XD |

| So long as it follows the rules it should be fine. Just make sure when cutting and shaping it to keep it as light as you can and to remove any sharp edges.
The website is being updated this week so hopefully the registration forms and everything will be ready to roll. Apparently the TV promo has been sorted too :)
It was particularly hard to write for the web page this time so if something doesn't make sense please let me know :)
I am not sure how much I am allowed to say before the page goes live... ok, the page is up but the regos are not: http://www.armageddonexpo.com/nz/anime-manga-cartoons/cosplay-contest/#skiptop
So as a summary Dunedin, ChCh, Welly, Aucks and Melbourne are all regionals for the Cosplay cup. It just happens to be presented at Aucks as well. |

| The rules do look good~
Just wondering, for the winners of each event (wellington, christchurch etc.) , will each of those winners need to take their winning outfits up to the Auckland competition, or will they need to/can enter with new outfits for the cup? (not the usual auckland comp)
(totally not saying I have a chance haha, just being curious...?) |

| Sorry for not replying sooner, it'll have to be case by case. I have been thinking about it and have been shoehorning rules and such to fit with the whole meta contest thing ;) We haven't yet had the same winner in both cities but it can happen and I really want to make sure that if it happens the fairest option is applied. I know people enter each city regardless of where they come from and I really do not want to make a regional limitation!
I noticed the pages are a bit weird on the site so I have posted a thread on the main forums with rego forms and new rules until they are sorted: http://armageddonexpo.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=1083&start=0 |
