SPCC - Cosplay Wiki

I've quietly mentioned this to a few people along the way, but one of the side things I've been working on as part of the SPCC work is setting up a Wiki for it.

By now I'm sure you all heard of WikiPedia by now. Well, the SPCC Wiki runs on the same software as WikiPedia.

If you already know how to create and edit pages, jump on in. If you're not, please read the editing pages linked from the main page.

There's still a few blanks to be filled in on the privacy and rules sections of the site, but no abuse will be tolerated. Submitting content is what its about, and ideally I'd like the Wiki to grow into a community resource for NZ cosplayers.
The basic framework has been entered, and it's intended to be expanded to have sections on stores to buy from (nz & internationally), listings of local alternatives to products you find mentioned in international guides/tutorials, tutorials on costumes and props, and basically to become a comprehensive resource for our community.

If you have any questions on formatting or naming conventions please review the 'SPCC Wiki Conventions' page listed on the main page first. If you're still not sure PM me and I'll let you know the suggested method.

Can I do some "I'm to ~~lazy~~busy to do My own Research" Pages?? As in I put up all the research I have on a select costume??
Also, me and MCR are opening up a Cheap Fabric Store soon...as in Wholesale Cheap...you could put us under the Hastings Cosplay Stores area...teehee (we are Kagaku Cosplay btw)

If you can format it into a concise page as a tutorial for that character, or additional information that would be useful for cosplaying the character I don't see a problem with it.

Theres a section on the wiki that mentions it. Character appreciation pages are a nono, character tutorial pages are OK. :)

Edit: PS - you can add yourselves under Hastings. Razz

just register and edit the page. Thats what the wiki's all about. Add any other local stores that are relevant to cosplay while you're at it aswell. Razz

Are we allowed to suggest pages? If so, I think having a convention courtesy/tips page would be moderately useful for us con newcomers.
I would love to do a page on glomping, though lol, probably not related.

Cacti, I think such a page would be a fantastic idea. There are a few threads on here which can probably be converted into pages on wiki I think - like the photographing cosplayers thread, for example...

ROFL. Fred, you flatter me. ;P Ionno, personally I see that as just encouraging vanity/elitism... I mean, we all have our idols (GINNY MCQUEEN. *o* ) but imo they should be just our personal idols? Otherwise you start getting resentment building from those who think they should be idols but aren't listed on the idol page? idk, lol.

Profile pages though would be kinda cool. Very Happy

At the moment I'm staying away from suggesting profile pages, but I expect something could probably be done on the 'users' profile rather than a site page as such. Will have to look into it at some time.

Also as for convention stuff, people are welcome to put up posts as long as the try to fit it in with the framework of the wiki. Con and safety etc side hasn't been filled in yet, but I'm filling in bits where I can. If someone else wants to jump in and put something up jump on in. Razz

just register and you can create the page.

Do try to link it from a relevant area however. :)

Ok, if anyone had an account on the wiki and suddenly finds they can't edit pages - it's because you haven't verified your email address.
Either enter your email address in your user preferences, and save it.
Or if you had your email entered - but didn't click the link in the email - go here to resend one.

OK. Latest round, the spam seems to be taken care of, but last couple of days we're getting 10+ new users a day that are all spam bots. I've added a captcha system to the new user screen, and deleted all obviously spambot users - about 120 odd.

If i accidentally deleted your account, sorry, create a new one and make sure you put your email in so it gets fully activated (allowing edits).
