That Steampunk X-Men group was amazing - loved Rogue's outfit! I really want to design a steampunk costume sometime...

Yeah the guest list is incredible, over 400 guests! Matt and I got our photo with Leonard Nimoy and William Shatner - they were great. We can't wait to see who's coming next year - just booked our hotel room for 2010, can't wait to go again :)

Here's a few things that we learnt before going, and things that we learnt there - we consider our first trip a learning experience, and next year will be our real DC experience :)

Omigosh! I'm gonna check out all the Geddons next year but 2011, I am so going to go Ovreseas. Where would Dragon Con rate in all the international cons? In the top 5?

San Diego Comic Con is bigger, but some say it has become 'too big', with film companies taking over a large portion of it, monster lines to see things, and it's never had a big costuming element compared to DragonCon (though the Masquerade competiton is quite popular).

DragonCon is one of the biggest costuming conventions in the world. Even though I haven't attended ComicCon myself, I would rank DragonCon as the one I would recommend to anyone, and the one I choose to go to :) That's from a costuming point of view - if you're big into collectibles/comics/autographs/panels, then CC is a great choice :)

Wow thank you! So much useful info, just what I was looking for. I'm sure there'll be much more we need to know, but at least you've steered me in the right direction. Sometimes you don't know what you don't know...

Thank you!

Hey Anaria, there's now a Terminator 2 group forming up for Wellygeddon 2010 (in the General Discussion forum). That pic of the terminator cosplayer you posted at Dragoncon on p1, has so inspired me to do him! Funny that.

My husband and I are recovering after making to Dragon*Con again this year - it was amazing, bigger and better than when we were there last in 2009. I managed to fit 10 costumes in my suitcase, we met Stan Lee, Carrie Fisher & Christopher Lloyd and I even entered the masquerade this year :) Some pics under the cut - but all our pics are on Flickr :)
