Duckeh means Kuroshitsuji. Which has gorgeous dresses....

Hmm... You could just do a historical dress. XD Like it doesn't necessarily have to imitate a character or anything.

Or do Victorian interpretations of characters. Which could potentially be even more fun.

In terms of huge elaborate outfits, Marie Antoinette kicked Victoriana's arse.

The majority of her outfit was her hair.

There are heeeeeeaps. Kuroshitsuji, Ludwig Kakumei, Trinity Blood, Under the Glass Moon, Shutterbox(? not sure on the title of that one), Count Cain/Godchild, Tsubasa, XXXholic, Most disney classics, bunch of others I can't think of right now lol.

Marie Antoinette wasn't Victorian though, she was about a century earlier(I think? 1700s? My memory fails me!) - the Victorian era was late 1800's. She was also French, which pretty much made her BIGGER and POOFIER than most things in Britain, ever Very Happy

Hehe, I love Victorian fashion! Neimheille is the resident historical costume expert, SilkSpectre knows her stuff too. And Angela, who's username escapes me...but it has 'angel' and 'nz' in it...I think. sweatdrop

You know, if you made a thread about this on a popular anime board, asking for anime with Victorian dresses, you'd get so much replies...

Did anyone mention Hakushaku to Yousei Earl/Count and Fairy.
Pretty much anyone from the Touhou Project series has frilly dresses. Like Yukari. Very Happy

Maybe Baccano!, but the styles is more 1930's...
Chrno Crusade?
Koihime Musou has really really pretty clothing designs.... make sure you ONLY search for the anime, because it's an h-game adaptation. The anime is non-h.

There are many more, but these are some I know that haven't been mentioned yet.

@Static: Aww I feel loved Very Happy lol

Yeah MA was 18th Century, in terms of the dresses, there are alot of Differences...lol

Depending on which end of the Victorian Era you are wanting, you could cosplay Queen Vic (She is more the Romantic era, as her Dresses are gorgeously hoop skirted and her sleeves are different in terms that they are semi-poofier than the later 19th century dresses, and the Ball dresses from then did tend to be more shoulder length sleeves) ((she was also for whom the era was named))

Then you have the later 19th Century Dresses...which are some of my favourite ones Very Happy...
These dress are just awesome Very Happy!
The Victorian Corset gives the best curves and lines, in like, the history of corsets I think Very Happy (the 18th Cen has its moments, but my fav is the Vic, hands down!)
The Bustles in these dresses can be different sizes, from just a bum-pad to a near floor length wire one, each giving different looks, with the later being used more for Ball gowns...(The Bodices of the Vic Ball gowns didn't really change from the Romantic Ball gowns, still off the shoulder and shoulder length sleeves, but with a longer front...)
The Over skirts may look like they are just thrown on, but they give the skirt the connection to the bodice...that is why I am not a fan of Ridding Habits from the era, they are just a bodice and a skirt...nothing spectacular about them really, other than they were made to ride horses with...Most Over skirts are made of the same fabric as the Bodice, with the under skirt being contrasting fabric...

I could go on and on about this era...but I think I will just leave it there, I will keep going later on...lol

If you want to make an actual historical one, then go HERE, there are MANY different era fashion plates, which are great if you fell the need to be inspired...I had to stop going there due to the amount of inspiration I got...LOL TOO MUCH!! LOL (Links to different eras are to the right)

Btw, have you thought about Moulin Rouge?? HERE is a link to a page that has VERY VERY GREAT ref Pics and information about the dresses...There is also Bram Stokers Dracula and many more Movies ones I could spout off...lol

I love being a Costumer Very Happy

Yes and she also lived until 1903 ;) So that end of the century stuff also!

There are a few Chobit images that are absolutely gorgeous and very heavily inspired by the 1870s with pleated frills and drapery and ribbons. Seriously pretty stuff.

Takarazuka also are good for mining for incredible Roccoco and Victorian costumes. Elisabeth and Phantom are set in the 19th C and then they also have Rose of Versailles (naturally 18thC and the biggest panniers ever!!!)

If you want to be inspired by the real deal though, there are a few amazing pages. Kendra has a great page of links to real garments in museums and collections online:

I am currently making this:

The one on the left with the pearling :)
And a white silk with silver braid version of this:

Elizabeth from 1557-1603, Victoria from 1837-1903. The only monarchs from any country where I can remember the year they ascended to the throne and died. They also happen to be two of the longest lived monarchs on the English throne and I think our current Elizabeth is up there as well.

I forgot, I also have a loverly hunting outfit on the way as well :) Blue wool twill, flared bodice, short shirt and bloomers and lots of brass buttons :) I shall have a little deer stalker hat and googles and a couple of mini crossbows....

19thC ftw. When the sewing machine became mass produced and affordable to most there is a very obvious and fairly sudden fashion for trimings on trimmings on trimmings. The 1870s where you can look like a sofa crashed into several lampshades and a curtain or ten.
