PLEASE READ THE DATE OF BOTH THE FIRST AND MOST RECENT POST BEFORE POSTING IN A TOPIC! D:

If no one's posted in a thread in a month, chances are the problem has already been solved/the event has passed/the topic is no longer relevant. This is called "NECROING". Necroing threads is hella annoying, because it brings old threads to the top and squashes down the new ones - and as the threads are no longer needed, it actually doesn't help anyone. It's basically the same as spam. :c

I'm sorry for having a go at people about this, but it's quite frustrating, and happening quite frequently more recently. I'm not saying that you can't post in any topic more than a month old, but please, just use a little common sense. If anyone would like examples of O.K. necroing and not O.K. necroing, please tell me and I'll make some up to show you. n_n; For those who don't know, the post date is visible at the top left hand corner of every post - it's always there, so you have no excuse.

As far as I can tell, you've responded when someone else has necroed them, but not actually necroed them in the first place - I don't blame you, and I'm sure I've done it too. That's half the problem with necroing - other people post without realising how old the thread is because someone posted in it just recently. :3

Does forumotion support like an agreement/notice thingi when joining? Possibly just a short list of guidelines (short so they actually read it), and that might help cut back on the new members accidentally resurrecting old threads.

EDIT: Hey, what do you suppose "Message edition duration limit for a member :" means? You can set it down to the number of days, hours, and minutes...

I'd expect just limits how long they can edit their own posts. Mod/Admin can edit any, but a member could be limited to editing their own post within perhaps 24hours, after that they can't change it.

That'd be my guess on it's function, although not quite what you were looking for. Razz
