Hello everyone.

My name is Kaylene, and I'm from Minnesota in the midwestern part of the US. I'm a long-time cosplayer (been doing it for just over a decade now), general anime nerd, artist, filmmaker, researcher, and Japanese teacher. :)

I stumbled across this forum completely on accident, but it was quite fortuitous as I was planning a trip to NZ. (I'm currently writing this from where I'm staying in Auckland!)

A professor that I work with as a research assistant is writing a book on cosplay in the next year or so, and I would love to learn more about the NZ cosplay scene to have a wider view to include in the research gathering for that. So, please tell me all about NZ cosplay!!

What kind of things would you like to know about cosplay in New Zealand? Maybe start a thread with a questionnaire if you want Very Happy?

A little of everything - how did people get into it, how easy is it to find supplies/what are some of the things that are hard/easy to find, what's the atmosphere at meetups like versus what the NZ con is like, personal philosophies, group dynamics (and how they are formed), etc. :) I'm really curious how it compares to the States and to Japan.

I think I probably will do that. ^^ Actually, I'm in Auckland for a few days, so I'll also probably put a thread in the meetup section and see if anyone would like to meet a few days after Christmas...
