I plan to try (key word being try) make a Syaoran Li costume from Cardcaptor Sakura but ........ i'm not too sure how to go about making it. Like what fabric would be best to use. Any advice for it?

Ask Roy Mustang - I'm pretty sure he's made Li's outfit. As for fabric depends how much you want to spend - cotton drill works well for most cotumes.

I like to use thin opaque fabrics and just matching your picture to fabric to get the colour right works.

Especially for the long sleeves, I'd like a thin fabric for swishy-ness and comfort so its not too heavy.

It really depends on your preference and how it will look in photos.

And yea ask Roy Mustang. Check out his posts in the progress thread. His Syaoran at Auckgeddon was stunning!

Razz I'll post some here.

The pattern for the green top started of with the pattern I traced from a t-shirt. I enlarged the arm and neck openings. Adjusted the bottom edge to have flaps hanging down. The sleeves took several attempts to get the shape right. The under side of the sleeve is a straight line from where it joins the body to where the green turns to yellow. So they are shaped like triangles.

Also the length of the bottom edge was carefully calculated so when my arms are down the bottom of the sleeve does not touch the floor.

I used Green and Yellow Cotton Drill. Pretty much because that was what was easily available and I have used it a lot before. Maybe something softer / lighter/ does not crease as easily would be better.

Drill is really heavy, especially for those long sleeves.

I did put lining in it to help it move more easily.

I could not find any bias binding with the right shade or orange and yellow so I had to make my own. I made it from strips of Drill. Cut with a roller cuter.

Hope that is some help.
