Fabric wigs

| I've been trying to get fed back on if making a wig out of fabric is a good idea or not. More specifically, for this lil' guy here;

For those who don't know, Sakutaro ( the bundle of yellow ) is a stuffed lion toy brought to life, so I thought why not keep to the soft toy feel and maybe make the wig out of fabric too? ( it would probably be felt ) one suggestion I got was to stick with a blonde wig, and biff on an orange cat hat for the back. I've seen wigs made out of other materials before and they look awesome- but what do you guys think? |

| I would say go with fleece rather than felt, but I have seen it done before in person and it's looked good. It certainly sounds justifiable for the character - I'd experiment with it first to make sure that you're happy with how you can manage to make it look, but otherwise I'd say go for it. _________________

| | Having done a fabric wig recently I'd recommend it, as long as you can get the shaping correct. JVCA is right, experiment. I would also recommend fleece, and if you're going to stuff it (like the ears), make sure the weight is even not just side to side, but front and back. I just made a long one for Princess Bubblegum from Adventure Time which required a bit of stuffing, since the back was a huge piece and the front was 2 skinny pieces the back weighed a lot more and it started to slip back, to counteract that I put a hand full of glass pebbles in the front to weight it down, you couldn't even tell they were there as they sat behind the stuffing. Definately do a couple of mock ups as it might be hard to get the head shape right. |
