Bulk orders of costumes? Maybe...IDK.

Hi all!

I’ve been looking around town (or what’s left of it) lately and I’m a little disheartened by the amount of places to pick up quality cosplay goods. I’ve noticed websites which offer ridiculously low prices on stuff, but only if they are bought it bulk.

For a while now I’ve been contemplating buying bulk orders of costumes and accessories online (yes, I said bulk – as in the HUNDREDS D : ) and I’m just wondering who, if I went ahead and bought a load of bulk cosplay gear, would be interested in buying from me?

Ridiculously cheap costumes, lolita, accessories, makeup perhaps? Who would be up for it? Is it worth trying?

Maybe, depends. Making costumes is fun, but buying is always convenient. What site/company would you be ordering off, and roughly how much per costume + shipping would it be?

I agree. They are fun to make, which is why I was wondering if anyone would actually be interested. I suppose it would be more intended for those people who often leave their costumes to the last minute and freak out (myself included).

I’m waiting on a shipment of costumes from Wholesale Japan that I’m going to test out for quality VS price. But they are definitely price conservative. Their prices differ from costume to costume but all are definitely far below the $50 mark.

Quite a few. I was looking on Gmarket and then that took me to Wholesale Dress. The only draw back is that almost all the costumes are female.

Here's some of the examples. Note that the shipping is calculated by the weight of the item.

Roughly $25 NZ.
DPEX shipping is US$ 14.99, for 3-7 days delivery (VERY reasonable).
OR
China Post is US$ 4.96, for 20-50 days delivery. Reasonable if you don't require it imediately.

Roughly $15 NZ.

That's one of the websites. Quality, not too sure yet. I'm waiting on an order so I can test some of their stuff out.

Oh, them. I remember finding their site awhile ago and bookmarking heaps of stuff xD.

But I've heard some pretty mixed reviews about their stuff, mainly just complaining about customer service. There's an entire blog dedicated to 'reviewing' them [here] that is pretty much full of hate, but on the other hand I have read some really good reviews of their shoes- the bottom line seems to be that what you pay for is what you get.

But having said that, I'm still interested in buying some stuff from them, like maybe some of the generic costumes for cheap skirts/tops/sweater vests, maybe some shoes. I'd be willing to give them a shot. If you do make a group bulk order, I would like to join =D.

Possibly interested.

Looking at the website link though that bakacirno gave, the costumes dont seem to be strict cosplay if that makes sense.

The costumes dont seem to be strictly from characters in an anime. They look more like party dresses with nurse, maid, school girl and flight attendant themes.

I think with places like wholesale-dress, everything is pretty general. I mean, there’s blogs where people have nothing but trouble with them, and then there’s blogs where people have only good things to say.
I submit to a blog for people who often buy stuff online and compare it to the original picture showing how similar it is and their rating out of ten. So far my experience has been quite varied. Some things are awesome and some are just terrible, but you live and your learn I guess.

Yeah, their stuff isn’t limited to anime costumes. I was particularly excited to see the Girl’s Generation outfit though. Waiting impatiently for it to arrive..
They do have an abundance of school costumes though.
