| Hello all,
As you know there have been many many contests and contestants. I have a very incomplete list of winners, almost totally blank from the time before I was asked to judge. And due to paperwork being a mix of email and hand in forms I know there are big gaps in what I have.
I'm hoping to get up a website on the history of the contest, I am planning on hunting out photos to add to the Tumblr account as well, but I'd really like to be able to get a list of winners and if there are any special memories anyone wants to share.
I know JP's gallery will be a real help for the last few years especially so I'll be heading through there too but many eyes and minds make light work :)
The contest has run for so long now that this is really needed. Incidentally it'll also help with prizes and divisions in the future.
So I know there was an Auckland contest in 2003 but I think there was one in Wellington that year too which I have no info on. This is just going by memory (I remember winners and prizes but not years) I'll get the files I have out soon. I think Angela has some and I know the 2008 winners are in a list in my email as that was the year of the sponsor driven prizes. I'll get them up tonight, right now just writing up the list of years and cities has been a bit tiring!
Once the list is sorted I can get links and photos sorted where possible :)

| Chch 2010: Best Solo was me, as Ivy from Soul Calibur.
AND going back waaaaay into the mists of time...
Wellington '03: I got a top ten as Baiken from Guilty Gear. I have a feeling some of my commissions also got top tens, but I can't remember. EDIT: Top ten, commission de moi: Kirsten as Myoubi from Alichino. Top ten, another of my commissions: Nicole as Leona from Magna Carta. Possible also top ten: Rebecca as Chocolate Misu from...that show I forget the name of.
Wellington '04: Natelle as Arashi from X/1999 (commissioned from me) won a pervy 'how to draw schoolgirls' book that she passed on, but I honestly can't remember if it was a top ten or a tech.
Wellington '05: 1st - not sure....I remember the costume, but not the character name! 2nd - me as Lucifer from Angel Sanctuary and 3rd Nicole as Maya from Magna Carta (commissioned from me). Possible top ten: Kirsten as Astaroth from Angel Sanctuary.
Wellington '07: I got either best technical or best solo? I'm not sure which! Princess Kushinada from Orion. EDIT: it has been brought to my attention that I may have won best in show. I honestly can't remember! IT WAS SOMETHING ANYWAY
..I'm still thinking. I'll be back.
Edit: OH! I think the winner in wellington '03 was Anna as Belial from Angel Sanctuary. Neimhaille, it was the same year Jenni and Giffy did the angelic layer group if that helps? Can't remember if it was '03 or '04. Also, Wellington '02 winner was dressed as Felicia from Magna Carta...but I can't remember her name
Edit again: Wellington '06 winner was Josephine as Justina from Magna Carta.

| Best in Show in either '06 or '07 at Wellington was a guy who was a character from Shaman King? I think it was ... Ohman, what year did my sister enter as Chi? (The pink commission from Static). That year that guy won best in show, I'm pretty sure.

| Woot! So yes there are some big gaps still but they are closing :) I found a DeviantArt journal that had a list of the Welly Winners from 03- admittedly not names but I think I remember who some of them are.
Also I hope that if I have forgotten that no one takes offence, just read the list and then multiply that by at least 6 for the numbers of people seen over that time... in fact multiply by ten and that's closer...
Next year is the 10 year anniversary of the very first contest, I have not really heard much about it but apparently it was judged by VAs. I am not sure whe Zeb took over but it was definitely by 04.
This is something I haven't really noticed other contests do but I think it's important for a few reasons (the division of skills and how to check on past awards) but also the contest is about the contestants.
We have no budget for flash bang stage stuff but we can make sure winners are remembered in perpetuity :) |

| Neimhaille: Zeb was doing it in '03 in Wellington, definitely :) I remember the '02 contest, it was the VA for Amazing Nurse Nanako (I forget her name). Poor woman looked a bit overwhelmed!
Also, would you like photos of the winners submitted anywhere? Posted here, or emailed?
