Do you prefer buying fanart or OC/originals?

A dilemma that Im always unsure about. Do you guys like buying fanart of characters you know and love or rather buy nice art of characters you dont know? Would you buy art of characters froma fandom you didnt know? Or would you prefer commissions on the day?

What type of originals? Hot guys? Pretty girls in dresses? Epic backgrounds? Dynamic? xDD idk OTL;;

For me, its originals. I love original characters! It adds a personal touch to doujinshi and lets people know your characters better. chuu~! Fanart I am not a big fan of but I do enjoy people's takes on the series.

Sometimes if I like the person's level of art or I see that they really want to improve on their artwork, I ask for commissions. :)

I usually just buy fanart, unless I see something that's really really pretty.

I ended up spending most of my money on phone charms and bookmarks last year though orz

@sakkaf: Hmm I see haha I always want to draw my 30 odd ocs but the fact no one knows them/might not like them/cant think of cool ideas to draw them it, I end up not drawing my OC's OTL;;

@azeria: Mm yes thats kinda my approach to it all |D;; And I dont blame you LOL last year was hectic with keychains and bookmarks and I totally added to that pile ehhe;;

Overall I prefer originals, but man I do melt when I see characters I really really really love. Especially the niche ones that no one have heard of.

Then again my opinion don't really matter, I'm not going to DO.

originals are better. Last year i attended overload and was shocked at all the reproductions I saw. It was a copyright enforcers nightmare.

personally, i don't mind whether an artwork is original or not.. it comes down to skill. if it looks really nice, chances are i'd like it whether they're fanart or otherwise.

fanart does sell more though. originals are more respectable imo, but most don't appreciate them as much as you'd like them to.. unless you've really amazing skill, that is.
