Wear contact lenses of your natural colour?

That title sounds weird.

Anyway, not sure if this is a big enough question to start a whole thread, but do any of you guys wear contact lenses that are the same colour as your actual eyes? To make them stand out more? My eyes are light blue and I've never worn blue contacts before, but with 5/7 of my cosplays this year having blue eyes, I thought of getting blue ones.

So yeah! Opinions? nodnod

I'm getting green-yellow contacts for one of my eyes for The Count of Monte Cristo, because even though I have green eyes, mine are more olive than his, and when I have unnatural skin for an outfit it washes my natural eyecolour out, haha.

I think it's a completely justifiable thing in a lot of situations.

i own a few pairs of brown lenses, my geo angel brown being the closest to my natural eyecolor (damn un-obvious lenses) and my dollyeye brown being my brightest/most obvious at a nearly-yellow golden brown. hell, i also own a pair of black circle lenses for pikachu, as well as a grey pair that might as well be black xD

then again, i am a lens whore and they're quite readily available back home. Razz

i guess it depends on the effect you're trying to get, really~ :3

I tried this and it failed miserably! I have grey eyes and I brought some grey circle lenses, but it just made them slightly bluer. I think that was just a bad colour choice on my part.

I do it routinely. I need them to see though, and lost too many transparent pairs.

Mischa you have grey eyes? I've never seen that before, forgive me for taking a close peek next time I see you. So circle lenses aren't all I've heard them to be?

@Selphiroth- I would do that too if I needed lenses, I hope it's not too costly though?

Whistles something about buying yearly ones from China. @_@ (Cheaper than buying normal ones in Aus, yeah)

Eyes are all so different- so I wouldn't let it put you off. My eyes are sort of weird anyway. V

I have blue eyes, and bought green lenses to get teal/turquoise, because funnily enough, that colour is really hard to find. In essense, because the green-ish colour is partially transparent, it just makes my eyes look bigger and bluer. I definately think there would be something in buying blue contacts, especially if the colour tones of your cosplays are just a little different to yours. (And bigger irises on the contacts look cooler anyway Wink )

I am so jealous of all of you, I would love to wear contacts of any sort so I don't have to keep taking my glasses off and not seeing anything whenever someone wants a picture... I have this thing wrong with my eyes so I can't wear contacts but I really wish I could wear coloured ones for some of my cosplays, most of them have blue eyes and one of them has red eyes sad

Don't worry too much about it. Most people don't notice eye color, and if you're really insecure about it you can always photoshop a different eye color in afterwards :)

My opinion is my eyes are very valuable and I would rather not go and intentionally poke things into them. Even though many people do it on a daily basis.
Seems dodgy to me.

So I have never really considered changing my eye colour for cosplay. If its not right, tough.
It is not noticeable unless you want to have some really close-up photos, anyway.
