Chchgeddon postponed until further notice

The Wellington edition of the festival will continue as planned on April 9th and 10th.
Armageddon is a popular expo catering to science-fiction, fantasy and anime fans. The company runs seven shows
throughout Australasia but has its head office in Christchurch.
Bill Geradts and family were in Christchurch when the earthquake hit and says that both the Armageddon office and
his home suffered extensive damage.
“We’re very keen to get stuck into the cleanup and to continue our plans for the future,” he said.
Armageddon fans and ticket holders are advised to watch the Armageddon website for updates.
We are already proceeding with the wellington event as a priority now and will have the event magazine and posters
out shortly and the TV advert out soon as well.
Armageddon is fully committed to future events throughout NZ with confirmed plans for Christchurch, Wellington, Hamilton, Dunedin and Auckland in 2011/2012.

I'm sad that it's been cancelled but at the same time I'm glad that's one less set of cosplays to worry about. No power and no fabric shops open is a killer...

| I know some people were still holding out hope for it but I'm not the slightest bit surprised.
It's a pity though - would have been a good way for an economy kickstart.
We'll just have to make Wellygeddon extra especially awesome! |

Not cancelled - postponed! So there will still be a chchgeddon this year (or at least, that's the plan according to that article), but yeah. Just not then, lol.

| I'm pretty sure I didn't buy the travel insurance option, which is a bit irritating since it'll be one of the few times it's caught me out. Might have to look at the Visa gold stuff again, apparently you get free travel insurance with Visa Gold. :/

| There's the flight flexibility thing on AirNZ - http://www.airnewzealand.co.nz/christchurch-earthquake-update - but unfortunately it sounds like it only applies to flights between now and 25th of March. @_@ Geddon is a week too late. I'm gunna ring and double check that though.

| Let me know how you get on. We were booked to fly down the weekend of geddon for just 1 night, and were on AirNZ aswell.
Also looks like Visa Gold wouldn't have made any difference. Just looked into it and apparently it only covers international travel, not domestic.

| I'm on hold at the moment. I anticipate being on hold for some time...
EDIT: The lady said that there was no extension past 25th March at the moment, but if that was going to change it would change in the next week or so, and would be made clear on that page of the website.

| Oh good, I think I bought insurance as well. I really do hope they can extend the dates, but then we won't know when Chchgeddon is going to be (so we don't know when to change our tickets to).
I was really looking forwards to Chch too... (KATAMARIIIIII etc)
Guess we'll just have to see how AirNZ goes next week. :) |

| | I'm glad that they postponed rather than (at this stage) cancelled. It means that all the hard work I put into my comp cosplay hasn't been put to waste this year. It's now just one less thing to worry about now. |
