Panty dress help [altering]
Post By Guest. 31/01/11, 03:41 am

I bought a dress for my panty cosplay off trademe. Advertised as a size 10, bought from pagani, so I'm like, sweet, this will be perfect. I get it in the mail, find out they overcharged me for postage, the dress is handmade, and it doesn't fit across my chest.
I can fit size 8 dresses, but can't seem to fit into this size 10 dress.

Anyway, what I'm wondering is, is there any way to alter it to make it fit?

do you have a picture of it, and maybe you wearing it?

how does it not fit?
e.g zip wont do up?, bust falling out? waist fits but bust is too small?

The zip at the back wont do up, the waist fits, it's just the bust of the dress is too small.

hmmm, I've had dresses like that before and the only way i could get the to fit was if they had extra fabric or large seam allowance that i could unpick and sew with a smaller allowance to give more room,

Its one of those if there is more fabric you can always take away, but with less fabric you can't really add to it unless maybe you unpick the zip and put a extra piece of fabric in same color to make up the space where the zip won't do up?

or put extra bust darts in the bust seams?
you could take apart the whole dress and make a pattern out of it and just add to the pattern, say the front bust parts, just measure the distance your missing and add that to the front bust seams shaping to blend with the original, for example if your adding 10cm into the front two bust parts e.g center front on the fold and two side fronts, you divide the add measurement by the number of seams you care adding to

would a drawing make more sense?

is the front too tight and is pushing up your bust? e.g the front bust shaping doesnt have enough room for your bust?
how far apart are the zips from meeting at the top and bust?
or are the side panels too small?

looking at the inside, there isn't really any large seams or anything. Hmm, I was thinking of taking a triangular piece of fabric and sewing that onto the back and sewing the zip back in, and the back will be covered by my wig anyway. If i zip up the back the front pushes up on my bust =/

Good idea.

Or return it to the seller. They should understand. And maybe in the future give them your measurements when ordering, so they can say yay or nay?

It's called vanity Sizing sweatdrop it's because NZ doesn't have a standard sizing system, each store or shop will have their own set of sizing measurements,

the extra back piece sound like a good idea ^.^
